Project Overview

An NFT for
Afrotech 2024

Client: Internal Partnership Ticketmaster/Livenation
Type: NFT Design + Cross-Functional Collaboration

THE CHALLENGE

Design an NFT for Afrotech's Culture Park booth activation that could serve as both a digital keepsake and an extension of the physical experience. The booth was styled like a cozy living room with a "family portrait" activation.

The NFT had to reflect Afrofuturist aesthetics, complement the emotional tone of the booth, remain brand-agnostic while being compatible with three distinct brand identities, and work within a cross-company, cross-functional collaboration involving marketing, tech, creative, and partnerships teams.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Concept development for NFT artwork

  • Visual exploration of Afrofuturism and family portrait concepts

  • Custom final artwork

  • Adaptation for cross-company digital wallets and categorics

  • Collaboration with cross-industry teams

Design Approach

Approached the NFT as a visual echo of the booth's family portrait theme, reimagined through an Afrofuturist lens. The final artwork features a seated group posed in a glowing, abstract living room of the future.

Visual Elements

Warm tones and textile-inspired patterns to convey home and heritage. Sci-fi lighting effects to nod to progress and innovation. Neutral framing and iconography to avoid clashing with any single brand's design language.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Worked across internal creative, engineering, and external partner brand teams to ensure the asset was visually and technically interoperable across three company platforms.

THE WORK

A digital display showcases an event called AfroTech 2024 with a vibrant, neon-themed graphic of a woman wearing glasses and headphones, set against a dark background with purple accents.

Afrofuturist Family Portrait NFT Digital artwork combining cultural symbolism, sci-fi aesthetics, and rich color palettes. Designed to work across multiple brand platforms and digital wallets.

Two blue hands holding a speech bubble with text and user icons, one hand giving a thumbs up.

Impact

"You hit the mark perfectly—even with a vague brief and a room full of stakeholders. It just worked."

Hundreds of attendees claimed the NFT, deepening engagement and reinforcing the booth's emotional storytelling around family and legacy. The work was praised for striking the balance between corporate alignment and cultural authenticity. Demonstrated ability to synthesize culture, tech, and brand strategy into a seamless digital experience.
