Why
FifthHouse

In astrology, the fifth house represents creativity. It’s the place where originality, instinct, and self expression take form.

That’s the energy behind FifthHouse.
Not creativity for its own sake. Creativity that solves a problem and looks good doing it.

FifthHouse is a remote-first creative studio. 💻 Nashville-based.📍 Working with clients everywhere. 🪐

Our Founder

Hi, I'm Kashia (pronounced kaye-shah) Spalding, Principal Creative. When you work with FifthHouse, you work with me. I'm your creative lead, your day-to-day contact, and the person responsible for the work from brief to delivery.

I spent over a decade inside major organizations, including HCA Healthcare, Amedisys, and Ticketmaster, doing work that had stakeholder scrutiny, legal review, HIPAA compliance, and budget consequences if it missed. That's where I learned what it takes to produce good creative, and how often the work gets compromised when no one with creative authority is in the room early enough.

That's what I built FifthHouse to fix.

What those years taught me is this: consistently getting great creative is harder than it should be. Not because good talent doesn't exist, but because without the right person owning the vision, even good work won't hold together.

My Mexican-Filipino heritage and the years I spent living in Japan and Mexico shaped how I see the world. That means the work doesn't accidentally get designed for one demographic when the target audience is another.

People who know me will tell you I'm shorter than you might expect; five foot two, decisive, and refreshingly candid. Honestly, I'm just an art kid from the west coast with a deep love for color, spicy food, and live comedy. The team keeps showing up, so I guess that works.

Inside the studio, Paloma, our Chief Vibes Officer and resident office dog, enforces mandatory screen breaks. Under her tiny command, the energy stays high, the ideas stay fresh, and the toys stay scattered.

The Studio

FifthHouse is a studio, not a solo operator and not a traditional agency.

Kashia leads every project directly, from strategy through final delivery. When a project needs development or additional design support, Bernard and Cody are the first calls. When it needs copywriting, photography, video, animation, or something else entirely, there's a vetted network of experienced specialists to pull in.

One point of contact, all the way through. No managing multiple vendors. No hand-offs to people you've never met.
Most importantly, no surprises on quality. Just the right people, in the right seats, when the work requires it.

Bernard Johnson

Bernard is the person you want in the room when the conversation gets technical and everyone else starts nodding along hoping nobody calls on them. He asks the questions worth asking, says the thing that needs to be said, and will genuinely sit with your most unhinged idea long enough to figure out if it has legs. He's also responsible for at least one of Kashia's tattoos. A tattoo pop-up at a meadery. No regrets.

He's a full-stack web developer and digital strategist with more than a decade of experience building fast, accessible, and scalable digital platforms. He's worked across healthcare, media, technology, and government, with a focus on performance, security, and usability. His toolkit includes WordPress, Drupal, and modern DevOps workflows that keep projects stable and efficient.

As FifthHouse's development partner, Bernard handles the build so the design doesn't get lost in translation. His background spans environments where getting it wrong wasn't an option, and he brings a level of calm to complex builds that makes the whole thing feel less like a gamble. Good judgment, fast trust, zero drama.

Cody Everett

Cody is the one who catches the thing everyone else walked right past. He does it without making a big deal about it, which is honestly the most impressive part.

He's a creative designer and production specialist with extensive experience building visual systems for brands and digital platforms. His background spans healthcare and agency work, and he handles design execution across brand identity systems, presentation materials, digital templates, and component libraries, across print and digital.

At FifthHouse, Cody is the first call when a project needs additional design support. He handles execution, he knows the standards, and he doesn't need hand-holding to get there. Every asset that comes out of FifthHouse is production-ready before it reaches the client, and that's largely because of how obsessively thorough he is. If it slipped past everyone else, Cody already caught it. Probably twice.

When he's not designing, he's gaming. Board games, video games, RPGs. The man has at least two closets dedicated to the hobby, and he takes play exactly as seriously as he takes work.

Our
Mission

Good creative isn't a nice to have, it's a business advantage. FifthHouse exists to make great creative work accessible to companies that are ready to take their brand seriously.

Our Values

  1. Intuition & Intellect

The best work uses both. Part strategy, part instinct with a dash of magic None of them optional.

  2. Design as Language

Every visual decision communicates something. We make sure it's saying the right thing.

  3. Find What Lasts

Trends are easy to chase and expensive to maintain. We build work that performs past the moment it launches.

  4. Culture Informs Craft

A global perspective shapes how we see. It adds dimension, nuance, and originality to everything we make.
