Original Illustration and Custom Lettering

Some of this was commissioned. Some of it I drew because I wanted to. This is what happens when a brand skips stock imagery: illustration and lettering that starts as analog sketches, gets rebuilt in vector, and holds up on a phone screen and a two-color print run.

The Challenge

Custom art gets commissioned for one thing and then used for ten. A drawing that only works at the size it was drawn is a drawing you pay for twice. Every piece here was built to leave its original layout: scalable, separable, and still legible when it gets cropped, printed in one color, or stitched onto a hat.

The Approach

It Starts on Paper, It Gets Rebuilt in Vector, It Ships Built to Reuse. Each one built on the same foundation, so nothing had to be rebuilt for the next campaign.

Quick Answers

Can custom lettering be used as a logo?

Sometimes, but not by default. Lettering is drawn for one phrase in one context. A logo has to hold up in one color, at favicon size, next to a hundred other things, for years. If you need a mark, that is brand identity work, and custom lettering can be part of it.

What files do we get at the end?

Vector source plus raster exports at the sizes you need. If the art needs to animate, tell me at kickoff and it gets built to come apart.

Do you draw in one style?

No. The style is set by the brand and the audience, not by a house look. The hand-lettered work and the flat vector work on this page came from the same studio in the same year.
